The first one in the route is Marbella. Preferred destination for surfers, but in reality it is not only for surfers. This beach is so long that there are small shadows between the palm trees.

I like it. I like this route so much that I repeat it very often. I usually visit first the “shy” one, which prefers to be hidden under the shadow of the palm trees and be exhibited in the distance, with the intense sound of the waves breaking when getting to the shore.

Later, I go to the second one, the daring one, always showing off with the white bright of the sand and that intense multicoloured sea.

They´re very different, but are barely separated for 20 minutes. Marbella and San Juanillo show the wide variety of the Costa Rican beaches, so different, even with the small stretch separating them.

Going through a ballast road, you can arrive to both destinations.

The most typical scene while doing down the nearby is to find some vehicle parking there. The tourists open the trunk, get down the chairs and enjoy the beach, clean, with grey sand. It´s almost never crowded.

Now, it is San Juanillo´s time. The beach is divided in two parts, both separated by a large quantity of sand. There´s not much difference between them, although it´s always important to explain that it´s more enjoyable in high tide.

During high tide, the crystalline sea covers the stones from the deep of the sea. Due to the clear color of the water, these same stones can be watched from the distance and reflect several blue tones. The landscape is breathtaking. It´s common to see the tourists doing snorkelling to appreciate the small fish in the water.

San Juanillo beach, Costa Rica.

There is not as much shadow as in Marbella, but the white sand and the own shape of the beach (you can look better at these aerial pictures) will make you enjoy a really lovely place.

Marbella – San Juanillo is a perfect duo for a beach ride of only one day. It´s another way to realize that there are many types of beauty.
